Blood group classification of dogs and blood transfusion points

Maltese dog (details)

Blood transfusions are needed to ease the condition when dogs suffer from major surgical bleeding, infectious diseases, extensive burns, aplastic anemia and other accidents. Before blood transfusion, dogs also need to find a matching blood type just like humans.

1. Dog blood type category item

1. Kind factor hints

Dogs not only have different blood types, but also can be classified into seven types, with a total of eight factors, simply referred to as A (A1A2), B, C, D, E, F, G.

Reminder: The eight factors are CEA 1 (A1), CEA-2 (A2), CEA-3 (B), CEA-4 (C), CEA-5 (D), CEA-6 (E),

2. Transfusion compatibility properties

Among them, factor A has strong antigenicity and is the primary consideration in clinical blood transfusion.

Reminder: This will cause the red blood cells in the latter dog to disintegrate in large quantities, hemolysis, and rupture, and even rapid shock occurs.

Second, the situation should be paid attention to when transferring blood

1. Test-type cross-matching

A cross-matching test must be performed before blood transfusion, especially before the second blood transfusion.

2. Blood serum ratio

During the test, fresh blood was taken from both the donor and recipient dogs. Two drops of blood from each donor dog containing 4% red blood cells were collected in seven 60 mm test tubes. Two drops of blood recipient dog serum were added.

Reminder: Centrifuge at 1000 rpm for 1 minute to check whether there is hemolysis or agglutination.

3. No blood matching is required for clinical diagnosis

In principle, before a large amount of blood is sent to the actual clinic, it is not necessary to carry out a blood matching test. First, a little (5-10 ml) of blood from the blood supply dog is injected intravenously. After five minutes, check whether there is a reaction. If there is no reaction, a large amount of blood can be continued.

4. The three-drop method can be used

A simple three-drop hemolysis test uses 1 drop of blood from the donor dog, 1 drop of blood from the recipient dog and 1 drop of anticoagulant on the glass slide. After mixing, check whether the blood is agglutinated with the naked eye.

5. According to different goals

Taking component blood transfusions for different purposes is not only good but also safe.

Reminder: Plasma content can also be infused, which can quickly and effectively make blood sufficient, and can also directly supplement globulin antibody components.

6. Adapt to contraindications

Relevant indications refer to massive blood loss, shock, high anemia, leukocyte and thrombocytopenia, abnormal coagulation function, etc.; related contraindications refer to severe heart disease, acute nephritis, pulmonary edema, brain edema, leukemia, etc.

7. Blood donation selection and blood collection

To serve as a blood donor dog, you should choose a healthy, worm-free, immunized, mature, but not obese dog.

Tips: Or insert blood from the left ventricle through the fifth intercostal space, and also bleed from the carotid artery once.

When collecting blood from healthy dogs, it is necessary to strictly follow aseptic conditions for blood collection, and the collection container and syringe should preferably be filled with anticoagulant to avoid blood coagulation during the blood collection process.
